Schools and community agencies individually use data to measure outcomes but lack capacity and technology to efficiently communicate. Our challenge for HackHaverhill 2018 is for you to integrate data to create a digital ecosystem that uplifts student and family success.
Schools, non-profits, and other agencies share strategic goals and serve the same demographics, but lack the capacity and technology to effectively communicate, collaborate, and complement each other.
Your solution:
improves communication and efficiency amongst schools, social services, and the private sector
makes it easier for families to find information on programs and opportunities they qualify for
facilitates better outcomes for youth and families that multiple agencies serve

The Innovation Hub Haverhill is the place for startups and entrepreneurs to develop, nurture and grow their business right here in Haverhill along the Merrimack River.
A Hackathon is a sprint-like event where computer programmers, technologists, software developers and others seek to develop a data-driven and technology-based solution to challenge or problem. Civic hackathons seek to use technology to lead to civic innovations that solve problems using public and community data.
Hack Haverhill is open to anyone interested in using data, software and technology to solve this civic challenge. High school and college students are encouraged to participate! All levels of technical skills are welcome to participate. Come as a team (2-5 people) or as an individual and be matched with a team.
Not only will participants be vying for a share of $10,000 in cash prizes, you'll have the opportunity to meet and engage with individuals and organizations who share a likeminded interest in technology. These introductions can lead to new job opportunities and internships. You will learn new skills and gain valuable experience applying your skills to a real world challenge! You are giving back to the Haverhill community through technology.
Hack Haverhill 2018 is a 24-hour event. Following an introduction and overview, teams will be formed and hackers will begin work to tackle the challenge. Three meals will be provided as well as drinks (no alcohol allowed) and snacks throughout the event. We will provide technical support, access to data platforms and high-speed Internet. Participants can choose to stay at the Hackathon for the full 24 hours or leave at night and come back in the morning. At the end of the hacking session, work will be presented to a team of judges and winners announced. Cash prizes totaling $10,000 will be awarded. See our website for official rules and Code of Conduct.
